ASMFC Delaware Public Hearing for Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass

I just spoke with  John Clark about this hearing since the meeting many are concerned with tonight is the hunting license increase fee proposal.  Delaware will keep its creel limit from last year of four per day at 16 inches with no season.  Black Sea Bass will remain the same as well.  “We asked the ASMFC to host this hearing  because New Jersey is proposing to have a larger size limit (17 inches) and creel limit on the Jersey side of the Delaware Bay,  this meeting is being held in case any Delaware anglers are concerned about the long term impacts on Summer Flounder.  New Jersey will have a coastal size limit of 18.5 inches and the Delaware bay fish are being proposed at  17 inches.  If any angler is concerned about these new regulations now is the time to show up and voice your concerns.”

Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission to hold Delaware’s Public Hearing on Draft Addendum XXVII to the Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Interstate Fisheries Management Plan Tonight (1/12/16) in Lewes

Draft Addendum XXVII was initiated to consider extending the use of regional management approaches for the 2016 recreational summer flounder fishery, including an option that would allow for a Delaware Bay specific region for the New Jersey portion of Delaware Bay. The Draft Addendum also includes options for extending use of ad‐hoc regional management approaches for black sea bass recreational fisheries in 2016 and 2017.  While this Addendum should keep Delaware’s 2015 Summer Flounder and Black Sea Bass regulations in place for 2016, Delaware anglers may be interested to learn more about the management option which would allow New Jersey to have one size and possession limit in the New Jersey portion of Delaware Bay and a different size and possession limit for the rest of New Jersey.
