Almost Caught A Sea Plane While Surf Fishing Today
Is there are creel on these things and do they taste good?
I’m not even sure how I would start cleaning this beast had I landed it. We were at the poin today catching horseshoe crabs and dogfish. While trying to take a picture of a seal. Andrew and John say … “Hey man you might want to look to your right” … HOLY ….!!!! … Dude that guy is going to hit your line!” If we had been casting, we could have put a four ounce sinker in his window with the twelve foot Tsunami, or the thirteen foot Lamiglas. Probably could have used a pushbutton Zebco.
So what had happened was … This sea plane rips down the beaches from Indian River Inlet today. Crosses the point, banks at the bay side point, and rounds the Delaware Breakwater East End Lighthouse. Nearly the same height as the light house. Then headed up the coast towards Broadkill Beach after dropping in and buzzing Lewes Beach. Then we lost sight of it.
Also the seal popped back up and I was trying to get it to sit still for a picture all day. Meanwhile Andrew is reeling in another horse shoe crab. I’m fouling with macro algae clumps (seaweed).
It was a rather eventful day at the point. Lots to see, many people to chat with, it was like a summer day. Great day to be on a beach and blow off raking the yard. The leaves are not going anywhere. Maybe I could get this guy to fly over my yard at about twenty feet off the deck, and just blow it clean.
