Bull red drum are showing up in the surf at Assateague Island. Dave Moore was out the other night and landed a nice fifty two inch bull. “I was using spot for bait, a few have been caught out here this past week” There are schools of big reds around the Chesapeake Bay giving anglers a thrill the last few weeks. Fresh surf clam, or kingfish chunks are another good bait for big red drum from the surf. Some puppy sized reds were caught during the Delaware Seashore Fall Classic surf fishing tournament. Some have been caught around the inland bays and back bays, by flounder anglers. People are not targeting reds around here. These are being caught targeting other species like flounder. Looks like I need to get up with Dave and bum a ride out to the beach this week for some bull drum action. Fall fishing is coming, maybe faster than we think, you just never know until it happens.
Fish On!!
