Easter Beach Clean Up

Beach Clean up crew on Easter.

We had our weekly beach clean up today. Everyone met in Delaware Seashore State Park at Keybox. We only had eight people, but I wasn’t expecting a huge turnout. I mean what kind of a heathen holds a beach clean up on a Sunday. This guy.

Tire we found on the beach today

We got a decent amount of trash off the beach, found an old whitewall tire with a rusted out rim, a whitefish (condom), and bunch of little pieces of plastic. Which makes up the majority of beach trash.

Trash we collected today

The waves were wicked today, the beach is wide, and the surf is as well. It looks like Jersey surf and I wish it would look like this all of the time. That surf structure si what we want for surf fishing. Different areas for fish to sit and look for food. Eventually the beaches will be back to the normal, the Delaware surf break your neck. Close shore break and harder to read the beach.

Looking at the surf towards Herring Point Yesterday the beach is very wide at low tide

Cape Henlopen State Park is really flat and full of tide pools in the surf. Especially from Herring Point to Gordon’s Pond. You have to walk a good ways at low tide to get to the surf on a calm day now. Most likely this is all of Rehoboth’s replenished sand.

Iron Hill Brewery Rehoboth on route 1 feeds the crew well.

The next beach clean up is May 6th. This coming weekend is the Delmarva Outdoors Expo in Harrington at the fairgrounds. I will be busy with that, come out and have a great time Friday to Sunday.
