The Blacktip challenge is a surf fishing tournament that occurs in the peak of the blacktip shark migration.  Blacktip sharks travel in a large school during this time of year and it is not uncommon to see them leaving the water with aerial acrobatics.  This migration makes for prime fishing targeting them on cut bait as well as lures!  Although the Blacktip Challenge isn’t just about the sharks.  With snook, red fish, jacks, tarpon and many other species feeding along Florida’s East Coast your choices as a surf caster are wide open.

The 2016 tournament will take place between Tuesday, February 16th and Sunday, February 21st on the Atlantic coast of Florida between Fernandina Beach and Key Biscayne. Registration deadline is January 15th, 2016. To purchase a ticket, click here. Registration is limited to 130 tickets (one per team). All teams must purchase a ticket to register for the tournament.   The minimum number of anglers per team is two and the maximum number is three.  Last year there was 300 plus anglers and a $10,000 payout.  Good luck to all the anglers, I would love to travel to Florida to check this out if anyone is feeling generous (hint, hint)
