July first to August thirty first is the slot season for striped bass in the Delaware Bay and River, as well as the tributaries.  The creel limit is 20 to 25 inches and 2 fish per day per angler.  That size was reduced slightly to comply with the ASMFC twenty five percent reduction, but at least we got to keep our slot season.  Because who doesn’t like hammering slots all day.  There are a lot of quality bass still around especially our residential bass that fit the slot size.  Use sand fleas on a six aught hook without any weight.  Plugs, swim shads, and of course bucktails.  The outer and inner walls will have striped bass around them, so will the haystacks (ice breakers).  Lewes canal, canary creek, and Broadkill river are good place to look.  The upper bay tributaries and tidal creeks are full of resident shorts.  Some will be in the slot size limit.
