Sandy Surf Will Settle
Inland Bay water temperatures rise quick.
The surf was rough today, the wind was worse. Exfoliation level twelve, I’m down three layers of skin. The surf is really stirred up with wind blown sand. You could cast a mile. It will calm down over night. Sunday’s rain looks like a lot of fun. Warm, moist rain.
Short striped bass are hitting more in the surf. Especially around structure. Cast and walk the beaches, great time of year for it. Not a lot of people in the way to walk a stretch of beach and fish the entire area. Night time is a great time to fish the surf and inlets.
Water temperatures are picking up around the inland bays. Masseys Ditch spiked to fifty seven degrees today at low tide. The surf and coast is still in the low forties. Check the Coastal Water Temperature Guide.
That gets the fish excited and feeding. Maybe wake up some crabs. Also helps wake up fish around the inlets on the outgoing tide. The fish can smell all those bait fish and life in the bays. The tides at the Indian River Inlet and beaches are great for the early morning incoming into the outgoing tide. One of my favorite cycles to fish and time of day all at once. Just need some more fish.
