Possession of Shortfin Mako Sharks now prohibited in state waters.

Dover (August 8, 2022) … DNREC has modified the Atlantic Sharks regulation (7 DE Administrative Code 3541: Atlantic Sharks) by adopting the Shortfin Mako Shark retention ban currently in effect in federal waters for state waters.  This regulation change prohibits the possession of Shortfin Mako Shark by any fisherman. This regulation went into effect on August 5, 2022 and its adoption is required for Delaware to remain compliant with the ASMFC Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Atlantic Coastal Sharks.
