Mullet from the inland bays … Ryan Henry

Ryan Henry and the boys went bait fishing the other night and caught a bunch of mullet, no not the hair style. Some finger sized and some much smaller with cast nets.  Mullet … Party in the back bays, for fishing business up front.   Good to see them here finally.  Great bait for bluefish and the smaller fishes as cut bait.  Look in flats areas near grasses and the usual spots with cast nets to catch some.  You might luck out with some minnow traps or using scoop nets if you find a school.  Stores will have them soon, check out the bait shops on our business directory for availability.   There are croaker in the surf in heavy numbers when you get into them.  Decent bluefish catches at the Indian River Inlet and surrounding beaches.  Fresh mullet would be a nice bait for those snapper blues.  Flounder action is getting better and better and the off shore sites are seeing the most action.  Henlopen flats have been decent.  The fact the pier is shutdown is not helping anglers, but it is helping the amount of fish out there.  Still waiting to see some spot show up, andthe off shore action is still hot.  Lots of tuna, mahi, and tilefish out there.   Hope everyone has great 4th of July weekend.  Be safe and smart on the water in boats.
