Great Whites Visit Delaware For The Holiday

Not just tourists are here in full force this weekend.  We have a couple more visitors that are making their way up the coastline, heading north.  I would assume they are in search of the seal population that is getting bigger yearly in Delaware.  Mary Lee is far off the coast of Delaware and Maryland.  I wouldn’t worry too much about her but if you hear the theme from Jaws you might want to check your six.  However Cisco, a juvenile great white shark at 8 ft 7 inches, weighing 362 lbs and was tagged on October 07, 2016.  Pinged in the mouth of the Delaware Bay, coincidentally where we have a large seal population near the inner and outer walls.

Not to mention all of the bluefish in the area for a good meal.  I wouldn’t worry too much about these tagged sharks, I would worry about the ones you don’t know are out there.  Calm yourself down, sharks live in the ocean and this is normal.  Sand tigers are now being caught from the beaches.  They are a little early this year.  I wouldn’t bother trying to catch these either, they are protected federally, and these tracking programs (pings) are purposely delayed.
