Cooler Water Weekend Is Coming

There is an upwelling happening and that will drop the temperature of the water this weekend. It is already dropping the temp a little along the beaches. When this happens more nutrients are in the water. Expect to see salps and those naked sea butterflies. Usually we see these critters when the water upwells. This process is also good for fishing.

Nutrient rich waters get critters fired up for food. The biological activity increases with the higher nutrient load.

What is an upwelling? When surface water is pushed off the coast, water below rises and replaces the pushed off water. This is known as upwelling. The opposite is known as downwelling, when surface water is pushed by winds to the coast and stacks so much it sinks the surface water to the bottom.
