Biplane Lands On Assateague Island

Now this is something you don’t see everyday. A biplane landed on Assateague Island later Thursday morning. The pilot had to put her down when he experienced mechanical troubles. The north end of the island where he made an emergency landing was clear of people and vehicles. No injuries were reported. The plane was headed to the Ocean City Airport with two passengers. Ocean Aerial Ads owns the plane, which is used to tow banners along the beaches and do tours. The plane will be moved out of the tide line, towed down the beach, and then removed. The plane is called the Red Baron by some of the locals.

Anyone remember the plane that made the emergency landing at Gordons Pond beach a couple of years ago? Now we call that area the airport. It takes one heck of a pilot to land a plane oh loose hot sand.
