The NWS has issued a winter storm watch for northern Delaware. Coastal flood advisory is still in effect as well. High tide this morning hit the dune line along the coast. A few people reported water making it under the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach. Northern Delaware might see snow totals from 4 to 8 inches. Latest from the NWS … “Snow Late Tonight – Tuesday Night: There is the potential for several inches of snow accumulation late tonight through Tuesday night. At this time, the greatest potential for higher snow accumulations with this event is across far southeastern PA, northeastern MD, northern DE, and southern NJ where a Winter Storm Watch has been issued. There is still some uncertainty with snow amounts but currently totals of 4 to 8 inches are possible in the Watch area. ” As usual with any coastal storm our main concerns are flooding and heavy wave activity. So far we have been lucky with the tidal flooding and waves pounding the beaches to the dune bases. The winds have not been that severe which always increases the damage and storm surge. North Carolina is getting hammered with winds equivalent to a category one hurricane. A cruise ship off the East coast was hit hard with damages. Dewey Beach had heavy surf this morning as well as all the beach towns. No breaches have been reported anywhere. Tonight we will start seeing more rain and snow for Sussex County and heavier snow up north. Next high tide is around 8:30 PM tonight. We will keep you posted.
