The Flounder Pounder Open Anglers Are Ready But Weather Is An Issue

2017 Flounder Pounder Open at Paradise Island

Last night was the captain’s meeting at Paradise Marina for the Flounder Pounder Open 2017.  Never heard that much smack talking in my life, it was awesome.  There are over three hundred boats and a thousand plus anglers in this year’s Flounder Pounder Open.  Good luck to everyone in the tournament and especially those actually fishing today.  Everyone was asking am I fishing, I said no, I can’t.  Since I am a sponsor it would be unethical to go out there and win this tournament as a sponsor.  People who set up tournaments or sponsor them should never fish them as well, that is just unethical and wrong in my book.  The buzz last night aside from the conditions for Friday, was the bigger flounder that have been brought to the scales the last few days and of course … where everyone was catching them.  There are some tight-lipped captains right now and will be for the next few days.  Can’t blame them, there is a grand prize of one hundred thousand dollars on the line.

Trophies for the 2017 Flounder Pounder Open

It’s looking a bit sporty or nautical out there today.  We have a small craft advisory starting at eleven this morning into the evening.  Looks like the conditions have shifted to the worst overnight, which is good and typical Dela-weather, just wait fifteen minutes if you want it to change.  Most of the boats  will be fishing Saturday and Sunday.  Te scales should be busy and exciting to watch.  The general consensus last night was no one wanted to fish today due to the weather and conditions at sea.  Some were saying five foot swells at three to four seconds.  The south wind is never popular either, if given the choice.   Anglers just have to report in via email or in person at the marina the day they are not going to fish and many of them were already doing that last night.  We will see how many went out today and if they had any luck when the scales open at four.  See you in Paradise.

Fish On!
