DNREC has issued a swim advisory for Rehoboth Beach. There are signs posted from Baltimore to Norfolk Streets. The advisory is form elevated bacteria levels due to heavy rainfall and run off. The state has a water monitoring section on their website where you can look for these advisories. When the advisory is lifted the red mark will be returned to yellow. Results of the follow up tests will be available tomorrow on Friday at 1 PM.
On a side note the inland bays is always under a swimming advisory. If you have any open wounds it is not a good idea to expose them to the bay waters. “There is a permanent caution regarding swimming in the Inland Bays. The Inland Bays suffer from nutrient pollution, coming from failing septic systems, fertilizers and other sources. Water is slow to flush out of these bay, Indian River Bay, Rehoboth Bay and Little Assawoman Bay, so pollutants linger.”
