We already had a good snow for 2017 and now they are saying we will see anywhere from one inch to ten inches, and the coast will get the brunt of the snow. This of course depends on which model you are using. I am not worried about snow, it is fun to play in and not too bad to get around in, even in this cold. I am worried about heavy winds, coastal erosion and minor tidal flooding. Let’s just say typical nor’easter conditions. There are hurricane force strength winds offshore, gale warnings, freezing spray advisories, heavy freezing spray advisories, and of course a winter storm watch. I think for us coastal folks the snow is the least of our worries. Wind and waves will be an issue for the coastline and beaches especially. Route 1 could easily flood at high tide, things like that are my concerns. The hazardous weather outlook page from the NWS is a mile long list of conditions we can expect, snow being the least of our worries. If I am going to get stuck at home, I hope it is due to a lot of snow, and I can go car hooding. So just be prepared and be safe. High winds are definitely a power loss hazard, and with these temperatures that is a serious issue. Best to be prepared for power losses with this wind, so have a place to go if you need to leave your house. Riding out a long power loss could be dangerous. Get the cars gassed up, milk, bread etc is an understatement. The stores were being stripped last night. Be safe and smart
