Anyone remember last year when we practically had a hurricane n February? It is that time of year and we are already starting to see bad storms. Texas was hammered by Hurricane Harvey and is still being hit with rain. The flooding is like they have never seen before. Our first tropical storm, which if it builds will be tropical storm 10, according to NOAA. I amay also become a tropical “cyclone” warning. It is moving up the east coast and will be an issue for this area by Tuesday if it keeps on its current track. Right now the storm surge is carving up our beaches and creating some heavy wave action. Be careful driving on the beaches, that drop off can cause your vehicle to roll over into the surf.
The carving up so to speak started on Sunday, the beaches were nicely sloped then in a matter of hours all started to get carved up and a three-foot shelf formed where the waves “ate” the beach. This started on the south beaches in Fenwick and the slowly moved north to Cape Henlopen. The only thing we have to worry about are heavy rip currents and stirred up water from winds and fast water. So far that is all we have to worry about but we will have small craft advisory into Wednesday morning most likely. Gale warnings also in effect for Tuesday. We will also have to deal with storm surge for a few days after the storm passes our area.
Fish On!
