DSF All Species Fishing Tournament catches

Week 3 card is the Jack of Clubs

If you hadn’t heard, spring has sprung, and the fishing is picking up quickly.  The DSF All Species Fishing Tournament like the trout pond season for Delaware was on delay thanks to ice and snow.  However this weekend people were out and about catching fish in many ponds, rivers, and tidal streams.  Even Tidbury and Newton ponds were producing stocked trout, despite the rain on Saturday.  I am almost positive not all the fish were caught and they will be restocking on Thursday, I wonder if we can fish behind the truck when they do this (kidding! … no I’m not!).   You can sign up for the tournament whenever you would like, there isn’t a dead line, it is always open to enter, and you get a cool T shirt with that deck of playing cards.  Last week’s card was the six of clubs.  This week’s card will be the Jack of Clubs.

Charles Williams with a white perch from the Mispillion River in Milford

Danny Schanne  sent us a picture of his first catch for the tournament, it is also the very first fish entered in the tournament!  He caught a Large Mouth Bass at  Blairs Pond the other day.  Charles Williams caught a white perch at the Mispillion River in Milford on Saturday and is our second entry into the All Species Fishing Tournament.  A few people sent messages last night with pictures of catches, they were kicking themselves for not entering yet, because they could have knocked a few species off the list.  This is why I made this an eight month tournament, so we could cover spring to fall fishing and give everyone a chance at all the fish on the list.  If you are thinking of entering just hit the link for the tournament and sign up, don’t forget to complete the process when the page refreshes to pay for your entry.  We are having the shirts made to order and ship on Friday mornings.  You need to sign up online as of now so we can keep everyone organized on a spread sheet.  DSF will be at the Grand Opening of First State Sporting Goods on March 28th in Marydel at  825 Halltown Rd.
I will have tournament sign ups that day as well if you are in the area stop by and get in the game.  Good luck to all the participants and most of all have fun!

Fish On!
