Woodland Beach has a new attraction aside from the fishing pier, and nature trails. Buoy 13 washed onto the beach during Storm Gordon. People have been going out there and taking pictures and selfies. It is standing upright not far from the old restaurant. The question is how do you get such a huge buoy off of a bay beach. Even at high tide there isn’t much water in there.
The buoy tender William Tate will recover this buoy next week after the Florence has dissipated, I am told by sources at the Coast Guard. “We may have to lift her off with a helicopter.” That will be something to see and if possible we hope to check out this process. No way they can get that big ship in there.
