7:30 PM … Update the wire has been moved, and is not longer a water hazard for boaters.
(April 4, 2020) … There is a wire down just above the water across the Lewes Rehoboth Canal at the route 1 Bridge between Dewey and Rehoboth Beaches. Granted this time of year boaters aren’t too heavy in that area, but it is a hazard. The Coast Guard Indian River Station sent me this info and has put out an alert. Delmarva Power, local first responders, and DNREC have also been notified.
It may take until tomorrow to hear if it has been removed or fixed. Just be wary if you are in that area. This wire is hanging low enough to be an issue for kayakers as well as boaters. The wire is hard to see and is circled in the picture.
