Air Down More For The Soft Sand

If the beach feels worse than usual take out more air

Faithful steward crossing to coin beach used to be real bad, now it’s worse. That has been very loose sand ever since Sandy. Literally a guaranteed area to get stuck, even aired down if you aren’t careful. At 16 psi it is no problem, 20 psi it is rough. The fuel truck blew through there yesterday like a boss. Picking his way from soft semi wet sand high spots, to the dry loose sugar sand on the “upper” area.

Heading north Conquest to Key Box the sand is loose and fast too. A few areas it is deep loose semi wet sand from high tides. Another guaranteed buried to the frame if you’re not careful. High tide is at noon to early afternoon this weekend. Keep an eye on the previous high tide wrack line. Still have lunar tides to deal with for a few days. Additionally that wind this weekend, with waves at three to five.

Take the high road is always good in any situation especially the sand highway.

I’d air down extra this weekend and the rest of the summer for any of the beaches, lower than 20 psi. You would be amazed how much easier it is to drive over sand at 16 psi. That extra two minutes at the air pump won’t kill you. There have been a lot more people stuck this year already than the past three.

Conquest is right tore up, loose and fast sand. I aired down to 16 psi and had zero issues.
