Extreme Low Tides

The tides have been extremely low the last several days.  I have received a lot of messages asking what's up with the low water everywhere.  Tidal creeks are lower than normal, Vines creek looked almost empty yesterday.  We are coming into a full moon (June 2) and some of the heavy winds have not helped either with blow out tides.  …

Fishing update

The Broadkill beach replenishment is rolling 24/7 and is surreal looking.  If you are unfamiliar with that area, the beach is small and close to what little dune bases are left from storms.  The new beach is literally a seventeen feet or so tall and a thirty foot wide berm in front of the houses and old dunes, and then gradually…

South Side Shoot Out 2015

Southern Delaware often gets pushed to the side when people speak of boardsports. Not exactly a reliable wave to talk about, and very often the least windy time of the year are the summer months when many people would love to come and try kite boarding. Happy Memorial Day Weekend

First and foremost be safe driving this weekend.  The beach isn't going anywhere, take your time it will be there when you get here.  We still have bluefish out there.   The Indian River Inlet was hot in the late morning on Thursday and the incoming tides this weekend should be great to fish.  The crowd will look like opening day for…

Moving Spawning Horseshoe Crabs

Last night at 10 p.m. I met a few friends and a group of people at Broadkill Beach to help Julie McCall.  We were there to help her move spawning horsehsoe crabs out of the way of the beach replenishment project.  The workers shut down the equipment for about two hours so the spawning horseshoe crabs can be moved to the finished side…

Weekend fishing update

The bluefish are still here but the catches are random from the surf, but that doesn't mean you should no try.  People are catching them at Fenwick Island to Beach Plum Island State parks.  Mostly this is happening as they move with the incoming tides, the fish not the anglers.  The Indian River Inlet was crazy over the weekend.  …
