Registration is closed for the first annual War On The Shore Surf Fishing Tournament. WOTS has 181 anglers participating for a first prize of $5,000. All of the prizes have been figured for the amount of participants.
First Prize … $5,000 … trophy tidal table
Second Prize … $1,500 … trophy tidal table
Third Prize … $1,000 … trophy tidal table
Fourth prize … $500 … trophy tidal bait board
Fifth prize … $250 … trophy tidal bait board
Largest fish prize … A Kattagat Jacket from Helly Hansen and $250
Bluefish calcutta will be collected when you pick up registration packets. It is $20 per angler if you want to participate in the calcutta. We pay out all monies for the calcutta, always do, that is why they are in cash. Also, just because there are 181 participants doesn’t mean they will all sign up. So don’t do your math on the amount of people in the tournament, it doesn’t work that way, never has.
Registration packets will be available the 8th of October to the 12th of October at Liquid Board shop and Big Chill Surf Cantina from 11 AM to 8 PM. Yes we know it (Liquid) is “closed”, however the building didn’t go anywhere. It is recommended you pick up your packets the week before. We will have them the day of the 13th, at the parking lot at Herring Point by 5 AM.
T-shirts are ordered and will be with your registration packets. There are a few extra shirts that you can purchase at the awards ceremony at the The Wheelhouse in Lewes on the canal. This is first come first serve for extra shirts. We also had a few hoodies made for prize categories and sale. Shirts and hoodies are white with the tournament design.
The Tidal Table trophies are done and they look awesome! We will have some pictures of those up in a day or two once they are done being coated.
Anglers can get on the beach as early as 5 AM from Gordons Pond, Herring Point, and Naval Crossing. The fishing area is to the Walk on beach above the Great Dune at Naval Crossing to the jetty at Gordons Pond. The area north of the naval jetty is closed so the surfers have a place.
We hope everyone has a great time. We have a ridiculous amount of judges to help keep an eye on everything. Judges will not be driving around, they will be in certain spots to measure fish and watch the anglers.
HUGE THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS!!!!
