Vandalism at the James Farm!
From the Center for the Inland Bays … Late Saturday evening five kayaks on racks at the beach were incinerated and completely destroyed and three others were set-afloat but, fortunately, salvaged. The storage rack was also destroyed. These were property of the CIB and Ecobay Kayak, the eco-tourism concessionaire at the Farm and damage is estimated to be about $3000. The police and the fire marshal’s office are investigating and we are providing them with all the information that we have. Lisa Daisey, the proprietor of Ecobay, has offered a $300 reward for information that leads to arrests of those responsible. You can contact me at the Center (jamesfarm@inlandbays.org) or the State Police, Troop 4, if you have information that could help us. The James Farm is a wonderful resource for those of us who live in or visit southeastern Sussex County to bird-watch, walk our dogs, clam, jog, or just enjoy a moment of solitude. It is a privilege, that none of us want to lose. Help us protect the James Farm. If you see suspicious activity out there, report it to us or the police.
