The back roads are still rough with drifting snow.  The DelDot crews are hard at it and had their own issues today, so give them a break.  I have seen three plow trucks stuck on the side of the road.  Lot of my friends are working hard to clear these roads with little sleep, or thanks, all while working over time.  Give them a break and thank them when you see them.

The roads are better but still a little rough. Even DelDot had some issues today with trucks getting stuck on the side of the road. Doesn’t take much for any vehicle to lose traction. The bigger they are the harder they get stuck.  These folks worked hard today and are still at it so try to stay clear of them and thank them when you see them! … photo by Karen Beck

Wilmington, DE –After around-the-clock efforts by DelDOT crews to clear snowfall from Sussex County roads, Governor Markell announced that the Limited State of Emergency and Level 1 Driving Warning for the county will be lifted effective at 6:00 p.m. today. The State of Emergency has been in effect since 8:00 a.m.

“While the road and weather conditions have improved enough to lift the State of Emergency, I continue to urge people to avoid driving when possible in Sussex and Kent Counties to allow DelDOT to continue to plow efficiently,” said Governor Markell. “We expect plowing to continue all day tomorrow and possibly into Monday to ensure the best conditions for the morning commute. If you must be on the roads, please continue to drive cautiously and keep your distance from the plows. I thank all of the DelDOT workers who have responded to this storm and all of the residents who have heeded our calls for caution today.”
