Every year the Starboard closes for the season, except this year a new addition has been added to Dewey Beach’s favorite playground. Welcome to the Shark Tank Pub, Dewey’s newest winter hot spot. Located in the VIP section of the Starboard. Doug Moore known as Dougie Fresh by his crew, has taken on this project, and has hit a home run. Open Thursday through Sunday, featuring the Starboard’s staple menu with many new additions, including appetizer and drink specials, the $4 Shark Bomb is a local favorite. Breakfast is still available on Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m. Hours of operation are Thursday and Friday 4 p.m. til 1 a.m. Saturday from 9 a.m. til 1 a.m. and Sundays 9 a.m. til 8 p.m. A pub atmosphere with high top tables, 9 TVs, a fire pit for those colder winter evenings, and a carpeted floor on the old deck. This is a whole new twist to an already established icon in Dewey Beach, DE. The Shark Tank Pub is a separate entity, that still offers the “feel” of hanging at the Starboard, but as a whole new venue. Thursday is their “in the Biz” night, set up for locals that work in the area to give them a new place to unwind in their favorite summertime hangout. With killer drink specials designed to give folks a good deal in a tough economy.
I asked Doug why the name shark tank? “It is a play on words since it is a section or “tank” within an already established entity.” Sounds like a place DSF should hang out for shark week next year. I know many people who always wished the Starboard was open all year, and Doug has fulfilled that desire very well. The menu is ever changing as they tweak the needs, and desires of their patrons. It is a great place to hang out, and have fun with friends, playing video games, beer pong, or just chillaxin by the firepit with your crew. The staff is very friendly, and accommodates all their customers. With draft beer deals, drink and shot, specials. Over thanksgiving, The Shark Tank Pub had turkey baster fireball shots, that is definitely creative to say the least. A great way to get “basted” after a long night of work, or shopping the insanity of route 1. They offer take out, or you can sit, and the staff will cater to your needs. I have many friends that have dropped by for a quick bite on their way to and from fishing excursions. I am looking forward to hanging at the Shark Tank, and will be taking the Black Pearl there this year for a few DSF bar crawls. I would like to thank Doug and Monty for supporting DSF, and we look forward to working with them in the future. I wish them all the best, with this new endeavor.
