Collins beach, Delaware is located off route 9 on the Delaware Bay, inside the Cedar Swamp Wildlife Area.  There is a state maintained boat ramp, and the beach itself is not accessible by any road or path from land.  It is around the corner tot he right, after you leave the boat ramp area.  There are many watermen that use Collins Beach ramp to put in the bay and work.  The boat ramps are large, and there is ample parking for many cars.  The small fishing pier is also good for crabbing.  There is a lot of history surrounding this area and it has been a place for anglers to launch for a very long time.  Crabbing is good if you go out to the bay or into the Cedar Swamp Wildlife area.   Fishing is decent and the access for boats is great.  This is a carry in and carry out facility.  Also a good place to drop in kayaks to explore the Cedar Swamp Wildlife area or the Delaware bay and area beaches.

Like all Delaware Bay beaches the fishing is decent. Lot of dogfish and skate action. Channel catfish are even caught on occasion closer to the guts.  The beach it self has some old structure that holds fish, you just have to hike in to get there, or take a kayak.  We highly recommend a kayak or SUP.  Croaker, trout or weakfish, speckled trout, flounder, spot, striped bass, bluefish, puppy drum and even the large black drum can be caught from Collins beach crabbing pier. Top and bottom rigs are your best bet with squid, clam, or cut baits. Bloodworms are a favorite of schooling striped bass.. The artificial baits work well too, Fishbites formulas bloodworms being the most popular. Gulp works well for flounder on flounder rigs or jigged on bucktails.

The Hygenia House was built in 1850, on Collins Beach by George Collins. Because of the natural facilities of the area the house and beach became well-known. Once a quiet summer resort on the Delaware bay where a tri-weekly steamer from Arch St. Wharf, Philadelphia would bring vacationers and tourists. In 1878 the tidal wave washed away a major portion of the beach and all the buildings except the hotel.
