Expect Minor Tidal Flooding Today

Tidal flooding on Pilottown road in Lewes at Canary creek near the University .. photo from Michael Jordan

If you live in an area that usually floods form tidal flooding from storms, expect that to happen within the next few hours.  Roosevelt inlet is already up to the road edge and coming over in Lewes on Pilottown road below the university.  This is at the Canary creek area, which always floods there first.

Low lying areas will hold water at high tide.  Do not drive through it since it is saltwater which can wreak havoc on your brakes.  The water will not stay long in those areas and recede with the outgoing  tide, but I would expect it to do this again tonight at high tide after 9 PM.

Better to be safe than sorry.  Inland bay areas will see higher water in the next couple of hours around noon.
