Coast Days 2014 was a fun time this year, and the most crowded I have seen it in a long time. We had great weather for once, the past few years that weekend always seemed to coincide with foul weather. There were all kinds of educational displays from all of the programs available at the University of Delaware. The Saltwater fly anglers had a casting school set up in the back parking area. Surf rider foundation was there promoting their organization. Touch tanks were set up for the kids to learn about different fish and animals from Delaware’s tidal waters. We were treated to a demonstration by the State Police helicopter of a boat rescue with Fire Boat 7 from Wilmington. That was real exciting. The crowd that gathered was following the demonstration around the parking are near the marina. All of the boats and ships that DNREC uses and the University were on display with tours. The food court as usual was excellent. Coast Days is a lot of fun for the whole family. Next year and every year, I highly recommend you take the whole family to Coast Days. It is a very good way to create environmental awareness in kids and adults alike.
