Bethany Beach Shark Sighting Is False

The only reason we are discussing this today is I have been tagged or sent this picture at least fifty times. This happens every year and it is one reason tourists get a bad rap.  Someone always posts a shark picture that they snagged off the internet to try and stir up some drama or they are just looking for attention.  In these cases they try to do it by scaring people.
This year someone took a photo they found online, and posted that they saw these sharks in the surf in Bethany Beach.  First off the picture is actually Florida.  Second, we don’t get black tips migrating in our surf like depicted in the picture.  That is hard to tell in the picture unless you know what to look for, so to an untrained eye these look like sharks in the surf in Bethany Beach as stated by the person who posted the picture.  Especially since the water is so clean and clear looking, like Florida waters.

I think the main victim of stunts like this are the animals. By creating this fear it adds to the bad rap these animals are already given by society.  By the way if you are going to use a fake picture the least you could do is be clever enough to use one that can’t be reverse searched on Google.  Have a great weekend people and by the way, sharks live in the ocean, respect their house.
